Drew McAulay
Counsellor
Hi, I’m Drew (he/him), an autistic, queer trainee therapist at the Minster Centre in London, currently based in Staffordshire. Before coming into therapy work, I trained as a dancer. This experience gave me an appreciation for the ways our bodies hold emotion, experience and identity, and continues to shape how I think about the connection between our physical and emotional lives. Alongside my professional training, I have an interest in contemplative practices that explore living with greater awareness, compassion and connection. I am curious about what gives life meaning and how we might relate to ourselves more gently.
My training is integrative and relational, meaning I draw on different therapeutic perspectives depending on what will be supportive. I also see the relationship we build together as part of the work. I believe meaningful change often begins with feeling truly heard and understood. I am mindful that our different identities and life experiences can shape how we meet each other in therapy. Differences such as race, gender, sexuality or culture may bring their own dynamics into the space, and I encourage these conversations as part of the work we do together. I warmly welcome neurodivergent clients and those from LGBTQIA+ communities, and aim to create a space where you can bring your whole self without feeling the need to explain or justify parts of your identity.
