Jonathan Williams
Counsellor
My name is Jonathan. I am a trainee counsellor currently undertaking a placement as part of my counselling training. I aim to offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients can feel safe to explore whatever is going on for them. Having previously studied philosophy, I bring with me a strong interest in how we make sense of our experiences and the questions we ask about ourselves and our lives. This influences my counselling approach by encouraging open, reflective conversations that respect each person’s unique perspective. I work integratively, which means I draw from different therapeutic approaches to suit the individual needs of each client. At the heart of my work is the belief that genuine, empathic connection can be a powerful part of change and healing.
My counselling approach is rooted in person-centred and existential therapy. At the core of my work is the belief that each person has the capacity for growth, change, and self-understanding when given the right conditions. From a person-centred perspective, I aim to offer empathy, acceptance, and authenticity — creating a relationship where you feel genuinely heard and understood. This provides the foundation for deeper exploration and personal growth. The existential aspect involves gently exploring some of the broader questions we all face — around identity, meaning, choice, and uncertainty. This doesn't mean having all the answers, but being open to asking honest questions and engaging with what it means to be human. I tailor my approach to each individual, working collaboratively and at your pace.
