Lou Ikiua

Counsellor

About Me:

Opening up to others can be a challenging journey, it is my sincere mission to create a nurturing and trusting environment to facilitate this process. My name is Lou, as a  Counselling Psychology Doctorate student practising person-centred counselling; I’m someone who understands the complexities of personal growth.

What to Expect:

My hands-on experience as a Mental Health Recovery Worker, working closely with vulnerable adults, has deeply shaped my empathetic and compassionate approach to helping people. I am continuously engaged in training to stay informed about ways to support individuals on their path to recovery. My academic journey, marked by a First-Class Honors Degree in Applied Psychology and a Level 2 Counselling Skills course, has honed my listening skills and reinforced the significance of reflexivity in my practice.

My Approach:

The person-centred approach, which lies at the heart of my practice, is grounded in the belief that each person has the inherent capacity for growth and self-actualisation. This approach means that I see you as the expert of your own life, and my role is to provide you with a non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. I believe that you are the best navigator of your journey, and my goal is to walk alongside you as you rewrite your story, rediscover trust, and work towards your unique goals. Your emotional well-being is a priority, and I am committed to provide a space that is safe and free from judgement as you embark on this journey towards hope and resilience.
