Mercedes Domenech Ensenat

Counsellor

About Me:

I am a Spanish cis-woman, and have been in the UK for nearly 17 years now. I decided to become a therapist as I was approaching a decade working in marketing for different news providers, including Financial Times, where I became a co-chair of a Mental Health Employee Group, and The Washington Post. Now I am a second year trainee at The Minster Centre and I adhere to the BACP code of ethics, of which I am also a member.

What to Expect:

My guiding values are Compassion, Creativity, and Courage which means I strive to think outside the box, connect with more vulnerable parts of myself and others, and work to build resilience and versatility. Because of this, my clients can expect to have a safe space to explore and deepen self-awareness. I will think about approaches and techniques that work best for you and your situation and will hold whatever you bring into the room with the utmost care. Expect to connect with your body sensations and get comfortable with your inner child.

My Approach:

I work in an integrative way, which means I understand different theories of psychotherapy and I will adjust the way I work to something that works for you. I mostly work under the umbrella of psychodynamic, existential, and body psychotherapy. I wholeheartedly believe that the role of the therapist should be first and foremost to witness the client’s lived experience and way of being in the world. My job is not to advise or solve, but to listen and offer safety in the act of simply existing whilst the client finds the best path for them. I prioritise building a robust and trusting relationship with my clients, so we will work together towards your goals.

Area of Focus:

Whatever it be that brings you to therapy – anxiety, depression, worries about work or relationships, or simply understanding yourself better, I will offer you empathy and a safe space to explore your feelings and emotions. I also work with eating disorders and trauma.

Lets Connect:

If you think I’m a good match for your journey into therapy, get in touch. I will be seeing clients in person, with the option of online counselling as well.
